Design your pergola
Simple by design
Set your pergola length, depth and oak section, then add staddle stones, delivery and installation.
Build your frame
Optional stone post supports
Staddle stones form a durable bearing point beneath the oak posts, lifting the end grain clear of the surrounding surface and creating a traditional detail at the base of the frame.
Each 230 mm-high stone has a central steel pin to locate the post. They still require suitable, level foundations beneath them; final ground preparation should suit the frame, soil and finished surface.
Straight-square natural stone with a central steel locating pin
150 mm or 175 mm stone selected to match the oak posts
Four stones for pergolas up to 4000 mm; six when any dimension is over 4000 mm
Available in granite or sandstone and delivered with the pergola kit

Stone colour, grain, texture and small edge variations are natural and will differ from piece to piece.

Choose with confidence
Select the pergola footprint in practical size increments. Top beams overhang by 400 mm on each side, and the standard clear height is 2,200 mm to the underside of the top beam.
Select 150 × 150 mm or 175 × 175 mm oak. We review the final frame specification against your dimensions before confirming the order.
The visible frame is made with mortise-and-tenon joints, oak pegs and curved knee braces.
Choose a prepared supply-only kit or add professional installation for £500. Check your delivery charge in the configurator.
Supply-only oak pergola kits
Your frame arrives with the main oak components cut and labelled, including posts, beams, braces, rafters and oak pegs. Our made-to-order oak pergola frames have a typical lead time of 6–8 weeks. The kit price, delivery and schedule are confirmed with your final specification and postcode.
Supply & installation
Add professional pergola installation for a fixed £500. Delivery across mainland England and Wales is free within a 100-mile radius of Waterhouses and £250 including VAT beyond; enter your postcode in the configurator.
Our pergola installation service covers the assembly and installation of the oak frame only. It does not include any groundworks, excavation, concrete foundations, alterations to paving, or the siting and installation of staddle stones.
Suitable foundations and staddle stones must be prepared, level and correctly positioned before we arrive to install the pergola. We will provide the pergola footprint and post-position dimensions so that you or your chosen groundworker can prepare the site correctly.

Oak pergola kits start at £4,800 including VAT. The configurator shows the price for your dimensions, oak section, optional staddle stones, delivery and £500 installation. Foundations are separate.
Many domestic pergolas may fall within permitted development limits, but height, location, listed status and local restrictions matter. Check your specific project with the local planning authority before ordering.
Durability depends on the oak specification, detailing, drainage, ground contact and maintenance. Good design keeps the structural oak clear of persistent moisture and allows water to shed.
