Optional stone post supports
Staddle stones form a durable bearing point beneath the oak posts, lifting the end grain clear of the surrounding surface and creating a traditional detail at the base of the frame.
Each 230 mm-high stone has a central steel pin to locate the post. They still require suitable, level foundations beneath them; final ground preparation should suit the frame, soil and finished surface.
Straight-square natural stone with a central steel locating pin
150 mm or 175 mm stone selected to match the oak posts
Four stones for pergolas up to 4000 mm; six when any dimension is over 4000 mm
Available in granite or sandstone and delivered with the pergola kit

Stone colour, grain, texture and small edge variations are natural and will differ from piece to piece.

Oak specification & joinery
Fresh oak has warm golden tones and a strong, natural grain. Outdoors it gradually weathers towards silver-grey. Small surface checks are a normal characteristic of the material as it seasons and do not, by themselves, mean the frame has failed.

Technical overview
A competent DIY customer or tradesperson can assemble the prepared kit with suitable lifting help, tools and foundations. Larger frames require more people and lifting equipment.
Our standard pergola kits provide 2,200 mm from finished floor level to the underside of the top beam. If you need a different clear height, have stepped ground or need to meet another roofline, use the bespoke enquiry.
The length and depth shown in the configurator are the pergola footprint. The top beams overhang by 400 mm on each side, so the overall dimensions at the top are 800 mm greater than the selected footprint in each direction.
No. The configurator includes the kit and your selected staddle stones, installation and confirmed delivery charge. Foundations and groundworks are separate and must suit the final frame and site.
Our oak pergola frames are made to order, with a typical lead time of 6–8 weeks. We will confirm the schedule when your final specification is agreed.
